A nice ride discovering the southwest coast of Sardinia: the Costa Verde. Forget the big tourist resorts, this area of Sardinia is still totally intact and keeps the marks of the mining economy, which flourished until a few decades ago. In the second part of the tour, we will ride on the two islands, San Pietro and Sant'Antioco, with their fishing traditions, and on the fabulous South Coast, famous for its beaches. The last evening we'll be in Cagliari for a shopping session and the celebration dinner.

We can warm up and test bikes in the afternoon going to discover fishermen village of Marceddì and fertile Sinis peninsula.
After a proper "for cyclist" breakfast, we are ready to start with our first ride: the "Costa Verde" (Green Coast). This is the wildest area of Sardinia, less populated, less touristic, with a long mining history. But, a cycling paradise! On our ride, we'll see the Piscinas desert, a beach visible by the satellite, a challenge uphill to the phantom village of Ingurtosu, where the time stops at the mining era. Finally, the downhill to Buggerru, our final destination. After some relaxation in our four stars hotel, we'll have dinner in one of the local Trattoria.
Big climb today as a day start... But then, 2 beautiful downhills with sea view till the beach of Funtanamare are waiting for you. We'll reach then the village of Portoscuso for an Ice Cream and then 25 km of a flat road to reach the island of Sant'Antioco, connected to Sardinia main land by a bridge since the Roman Empire epoc. The downtown of this pretty fisherman village, rich of traditions, will be the place of our dinner.
On the today loop, we'll discover the two islands in the south of Sardinia. So close but so different for history and landscapes. We'll head to Calasetta port, taking a 30min ferry ride to the Island of San Pietro, landing in Carloforte, a Mediterranean gem where Ligurian, African, and Sardinian cultures blend harmoniously. We'll spend the day exploring the salt works, lovely small beaches, and spectacular cliffs until the solitary lighthouse of Capo Sandalo. After the ride, we'll have time to immerse ourselves in this charming and colorful town, famous for the Red Tuna fishing tradition, still in use with the ancient technique of "Tonnare".
In the afternoon, we'll take the ferry back to Calasetta. For the most avid riders, we can do a scenic 40 km ride along the whole coastline of the Sant'Antioco, dotted with secret coves, Spanish towers, and orchards.
We leave Sant’Antioco island along the salt works, dotted by pink flamingos. After a stop in the picturesque village of Tratalias vecchia, built around the beautiful Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria, we’ll cross the Sulcis countryside through artichokes fields and Carignano vineyards, a wine you can find just in this area. After a stop for a wine tasting and a picnic by the impressive "Is Zuddas" caves, the ride ends in Teulada in a Agriturismo (holiday farm) where we'll have the chance to taste the typical Sardinian Dinner.
As in every perfectly designed tour the best is at the end, along the Costa del Sud scenic road, overlooking a sea with all patches of blue and green. After leaving Sant'Anna Arresi, we'll ride for few km inland, touching again the sea at the pictoresque Porto Budello fishing harbor. Then it comes a succession of heavenly coves like Piscinni and Tuerredda, and ancient Spanish watching towers with its best one at Capo Malfatano. This up and down ends in Chia, one of the most gorgeous beaches of the whole island. Here it's mandatory the detour until Capo Spartivento, and if you really like scenery you should climb until its scenic lighthouse, admiring the whole coastline. Then we'll have just 15 km of peaceful countryside until the legendary Nora, the Phoenician town conquered by the Romans, one of the most important settlements of ancient Mediterranean.
After breakfast and one hour transfer to Cagliari, we'll start cycling from downtown towards the Molentargius Park, known as the Saline Park. To date, the park is very popular with locals to carry out sports, walking, cycling, and relax. You will forget that you are surrounded by the city thanks to the nuances of flora, fauna, and gravel roads.
Characterized by its urbanized flamingos that, with elegance and confidence, spend their days being photographed by tourists and locals.
The ride goes on to the Poetto beach, animated all year round with colorful bars, restaurants, and entertainment. Here you have a mandatory stop for a gelato or a light lunch by the beach.
We finish our journey of Poetto with Marina Piccola, the tourist port of the city, known for the famous walk that offers a suggestive panorama of the Golfo di Cagliari, with behind it one of the symbols of the city, La Sella Del Diavolo.
We continue the tour to discover the historic districts of Cagliari, taking advantage of the bike path that leads from the Poetto beach to the historic center.
In the afternoon you can have your shopping session before celebrate with our final dinner in the vibrant old town.
It’s time to say goodbye, but we know our Island touched your heart and you want to be back in Sardinia with us!
After breakfast and talk about the whole tour, we'll help you with bikes and luggage and shuttle to Cagliari airport, at just 10 minutes from city center.
