We have done two self-guides bike tours with Mediterras, one in Sicily and one in Mallorca, and think they are an excellent company. They provide excellent bikes, outstanding hotel choices, great logistical support with luggage transport and Ride with GPS and good itineraries.  We are an older couple, however at 71 and 68, and some the riding has been challenging for us through heavy traffic. Once our trip was underway it was fantastic! Mediterras did an excellent job of getting bikes delivered and set up, making our reservations and route planning. Their local partner, e-bike Slovenia (who handled luggage transfers, our transportation and the bicycles), was exceptional at every stage. Our custom cycling tour along the Parenzana trail in the Istrian peninsula was fantastic. We used acoustic gravel bikes, which were a perfect fit for us, noting we are experienced cyclists with a depth of off-road experience. The terrain is moderate and non-technical, though I could see where an e-bike or mountain bike may be more suitable for riders that are less comfortable riding off road. The views are stunning, the people welcoming and the food was out of this world! A highlight for us was a looped road tour out of Buzet, leaving us a second night in the historic hilltop village and its exceptional hotel.

In most ways I would absolutely recommend Mediterras, but will only give 4 stars because of the service leading up to the start of our trip. To be fair, we didn't start trip planning until 6 weeks prior to our start date, so this was a little tight, but manageable for a late May start, before high season was really picking up. We were also a father and son travelling together so we required two beds, another small challenge. Really, the issue was extreme lags in response to our inquiries. Responses to emails or calls to our Mediterras contact, Marcello, frequently took days and, on more than one occasion, more than a week. We were travelling from the US and our pre-trip briefing didn't happen until the day before our start, when we were severely jet lagged in Venice. Because our inquiries regarding what would be included in our package and with our bikes were not responded to in the 10-14 days prior to our departure from the US we packed unnecessary items and were left wondering if Mediterras would come through once we arrived in Europe. Having done a number of self guided tours, both walking and cycling, I was put off by not having been sent documentation including a packing list, 'what's included' and how things work, which would have staved off the additional inquiries.  There was 'pre-trip' documentation, but it was about the places we would be travelling through (which was appreciated), not about what we should bring and how the process would work. In short, the lack of communication leading up to the trip didn't evoke confidence and left us with a great deal of uncertainty as to how things would go down when we arrived in Trieste.

Ultimately, the trip was a success and that is what counts, but I'm glad we never had to call the 24 hour help line, as I'm not sure what sort of response we would have received, given the poor communication during the planning stages.

We had a wonderful experience with the South Sardinia tour. The 6 stages were perfect - for scenery, distances, and time for our e-bike adventure. The hotels were all varied and enjoyable. People were very nice. The route was well designed to keep us safe.

An amazing Eastern Sicily tour.  Marco was excellent right from the start in helping us customize this 15 day adventure.  The boutique hotels we stayed in were perfect, the gpx tracks were easy to follow although we had a few incidents where we were asked to detour off the highway to come across very broken unrideable or very steep sections which we had to "hike the bikes" only to then get back onto the nice quiet highway again. One tubeless tire needed to be replaced and lucky enough we found a bike store in Ragusa. Sicily offers so much culture and history not to mention flavorful dishes, amazing traditional treats, gelatos and friendly locals. Last year I rode Sicily & The Cilento Coast with Mediterras & they were wonderful but when my trip came to an end, Marcello & Gian Mario both said, "next year you must ride Sardinia." Fast forward 1 year & I have just completed The Big Loop of Sardinia, an epic lap of Sardinia in 14 days. This time we were a group of 8 from Melbourne Australia. What followed was a wonderful 14 days, 1,055.98 km & 12,488 metres of climbing! Spectacular roads, endless coastline, mountains, beautiful villages and breathtaking scenery. Plenty of laughs, plenty of climbing, a few tough days and memories to last a lifetime.
A huge thank you to Mediterras for an absolutely wonderful tour & to our guardian angel Roberto, who followed us in the support van, kept us fed & watered &organised every detail. All we had to do was pedal! 🚴‍♀️❤️

Six friends cycled Sicily.  Great experience.  Our host ensured our bikes were in great shape and stayed with us for the first few days to help solve any issues.  3 stars hotels, meals, and road conditions were all good.  A few rough roads but overall not an issue.  Breakfasts were all amazing.  Easy to follow directions.  Take some time off the bike to enjoy the coastal towns.

We have just completed the amazing Albania 7 day self guided tour across the Eastern mountains and south to the cost. Great route planning by the team and the overnight locations and hotel selection was great. Lots of interesting places to see with so much history and great people to meet. All the transfers of us and the bags went smoothly and the communication was perfect. Highly recommended for a very satisfying trip with some tough cycling. We had our own bikes and spares with us as bike shops are few and far between.
