Bike Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome in Croatia!

Upon arriving in Split, you will meet with our representative who will introduce you to the area, highlighting the key sites and dining options. You’ll have your bike adjusted to fit you properly and receive an overview of all the cycling routes available. The most significant landmark in Split is Diocletian’s Palace, which is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The locals reside within the ancient walls of the Palace, and inside, you can find a variety of cafes and restaurants offering fresh Mediterranean cuisine! Along the waterfront promenade in front of the Palace, you may enjoy a leisurely evening stroll. Depending on your arrival time, you can opt for an easy, car-free 17 km bike ride or tackle a 40 km loop inland.

Meals: –
Distance biked: 17 km  –  Long option: 60 km, unsupported cycling (easy bike routes)
Overnight: Split

Day 2: Kayak by the sea in Split

Today, you are setting off on a 4-hour scenic sea-kayaking adventure around the Marjan peninsula. This outing is perfect for beginners, as we will stay close to the shoreline. After a briefing on paddling techniques and safety, we’ll start our journey around the peninsula. As we paddle, the scenery shifts from secluded bays in shaded pine forests to pebble beaches, where we’ll pause for a swim in one of the bays—a great spot for snorkeling too! Experience the “wild side” of Split from a view at sea level, just minutes from the busy city center! Don’t forget to bring your swimming gear, as we’ll have the opportunity to swim and snorkel in one of Marjan’s hidden coves.

Meals: Breakfast
Activity: Guided sea kayak 3 – 4 hours tour
Distance biked: optional
Overnight: Split

Day 3: Stari Grad UNESCO site

Welcome to the Island Hvar. For the morning excursion, we recommend a leisurely ride around the UNESCO heritage site of Stari Grad. Stari Grad (the Old Town) is an ancient Greek settlement that dates back to 400 B.C. In addition to historical landmarks, you will encounter charming villages and pathways where you’ll cycle, passing by private gardens, along the coastline, and through olive groves. For the afternoon cycling journey, take the renowned and arguably most picturesque route through the lavender fields to arrive at Hvar town. Once you reach Hvar, treat yourself to a well-deserved coffee or aperitif in one of the prettiest Venetian-style squares in the Mediterranean and enjoy watching life unfold around you.

Meals: Breakfast
Distance biked: 45 km  –  Short option: 20 km, car/van support (during the climb)
Overnight: Hvar town

Day 4: Hvar sea by kayak

Following a leisurely breakfast, you depart for a group of islands known as the Pakleni Islands. The name’s origin dates back to earlier times when these islands were a primary source of rosin for local shipbuilders. Even today, much like in the past, the islands are adorned with dense pine forests that offer refreshing shade during the hottest summer days. The journey through narrow channels and along the islands uncovers small, secluded pebble beaches where you can relish the rare opportunity of having your own temporary beach, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and unwinding. You will return to Hvar around 2 PM, with an overnight stay in Hvar town.

Meals: Breakfast
Activity: Guided sea kayak 3-4 hours tour
Distance biked: optional 20 km
Overnight: Hvar town

Day 5: Island Korčula

Following the private boat transfer, embark on your cycling journey across Island Korčula, covering approximately 46 kilometers to reach the town of Korčula. This island was settled long ago, even prior to the Greek era! Throughout history, it was selected by the Venetians as a location to construct their significant fortified city along the northern coast of the island. Consequently, we are fortunate to have the stunning Korčula Old Town, which remains well-preserved and largely intact for centuries, where you will stay for the next two nights.

Savor the picturesque southern side of the island, featuring breathtaking views of beautiful hidden beaches and coves, cycle through small villages and hamlets, and pause at some of the excellent local Konoba (taverns) to enjoy the most delightful locally prepared cuisine!

Meals: Breakfast
Distance biked: 46 km, car/van support today for the bike ride
Overnight: Korčula town

Day 6: Korčula sea by kayak

While you spend another day in Korcula, seize the opportunity to discover the island from the sea; its concealed coves and stunning coastal villages are enveloped by dense pine forests. A guided sea kayaking adventure will lead you through the islets located between Korcula, Lumbarda, and Orebic. In addition to the monastery on Badija and the stone quarries at Vrhnik, you will appreciate the clear waters and the peacefulness of Korcula’s archipelago.

Regarding cycling, there are several loop routes available today. Whichever you opt for, you will ride past vineyards, olive orchards, and alongside the island’s picturesque coastline. Savor traditional dishes such as homemade gnocchi, macaroni, pasticada, and other meals that locals have crafted for generations. Some of Croatia’s finest white wines originate from this island, which will enhance your lunch or dinner. Have we mentioned that Marco Polo was born here and began his life journey in Korcula?

Meals: Breakfast
Activity: Guided sea kayak 3 – 4 hours tour
Optional distance biked: 36 km  –  Short option: 24 km  –  Long option: 85 km unsupported cycling (easy bike routes)
Overnight: Korčula town

Day 7: Pelješac peninsula

For your last ride today, you will be exploring the Peljesac peninsula. Your journey will take you past the vineyards of Dingac and Postup, which are made from the Plavac Mali grapes, a close relative of California’s Zinfandel and Calabria’s Primitivo. There are numerous wineries along the route that you can visit. Take in the stunning views that Pelješac provides, with Mljet and Korcula Island on your right and the mainland to your left. Today’s ride includes several hills, coastal pathways, and vineyards. Your final destination by bike is Ston, where you will be transferred to Dubrovnik. Ston, a salt-producing village on the Pelješac peninsula, was established in the 14th century and boasts the longest city walls in Europe—spanning 5.5 km. Ston played a vital role for the Dubrovnik Republic, which was at its peak and most prosperous in the 14th century, a history you are about to witness!

Meals: Breakfast
Distance biked: 60 km, van support today during the ride
Overnight: Dubrovnik

Day 8: Goodbye Croatia!

After breakfast today, the tour concludes. You may wish to prolong your visit in Dubrovnik and discover the historical landmarks as well as the stunning wall encircling the old town!
