Let me tell you why cycling in Croatia is such a good idea.

Imagine riding along the sea, with the water always on your side. Then, the next day on in one hour, you are in the countryside, passing vineyards, olive trees, and small villages. Traffic is low, roads are quiet, and every stop is a chance to eat well and taste local wine.

That’s Croatia by bike.

We’ve just added more than 10 new cycling tours on our website, and they really cover the country from top to bottom…and over!

One of my favorite ways to start is from Trieste. It’s a city where cultures mix, and you feel in right away. From there, you ride into Istria, crossing a small part of Slovenia, the only Slovenian area that looks out to the sea. You end in Poreč, also known as Parenzo. This is the idea behind the Parenzana Cycling Route. It’s a short tour, about 4-5 days, but every day is full of nature, old railways turned into bike paths, and peaceful landscapes. Now, if you move further south, things change again. You reach Dalmatia.
You start in Split, a lively place with history everywhere, and from there you head to the islands. Big ones, like Hvar, Brač, and Korčula. You ride, take a ferry, ride again. In some tours you can even kayak in the island’s sea. And at the end, you arrive in Dubrovnik, with its walls right above the sea. It’s easy to see why it was chosen as a Game of Thrones set.

If you like variety, there’s also a tour where you don’t only cycle. One day you ride, the next you hike, the day after you kayak, always surrounded by nature and national parks: Hike and Bike in Croatia; Hike and Kayak in Croatia

And if food is part of the trip for you, there’s a guided e-bike tour focused on local cuisine. Short rides, great meals, and a slower pace: Culinary Adventures in Croatia

Finally, if you want to go even further and see something different, there’s the Western Balkans tour. You start in Dubrovnik and ride into Bosnia and Herzegovina, then continue to Montenegro.
